The GJFC once again had the opportunity to take to Cairns there U15 mixed team to play three friendly matches with the Redlynch Junior Football Club.

All matches were played at the Redlynch club ground with the first game on Friday afternoon 9th September, the second on Saturday morning 10th and Sunday morning 11th .

The first match was against the Redlynch U15 boy’s season team which played strongly and scored first. Gove struggled to get into there rhythm and in the first 5 minutes scored the first goal from a corner penalty. At Half time the score was 5-2 Redlynch way .Final score was, 10-4 to Redlynch with Joe Lewellyn score all points for Gove. On Saturday Redlynch provided a mixed team but were short two players. Great sportsmanship from Rebecca Hill, Kevin Mitchell and Elizabeth Misob who helped make up the numbers for Redlynch and played against there own side. Gove came out strong and with two quick goals from a pass from Daniel Olivera to Courtney Hodgson into goal. The second was from a penalty shot given to the team goal keeper Harry Walker directly in from to slam the second into goal.

A number of attempts from Saille Frumenze and Joe Lines through the match kept ball play in the Redlynch half. Joe Lewelyyn scored from a pass from Daniel Olivera with two more tries from Saille Frumeze taking the half time score to 5-1. Full time score was 9-4 with two points from Daniel Olivera, one from Joe Lewellyn and one more from Saille Frumenze.

The last match on Sunday again was with a Mixed Redlynch side but again was short by two players. Sam Smith and Leilani Ani exchanged jerseys to make up the numbers for Redlynch. Gove again was dominant with early goals from a corner pass from Daniel Olivera to Joe Lines with a great header and another corner to Joe Lewellyn. Roy Kalleway core the third with Joe Lewellyn scoring two more, Saille Frumenze 1, Joe Lines 1 more, Kevin Mitchel 1, Bintang Daly 1 and Elizabeth Misob 1.With a half time score at 11-0. To even up the match Joe Lewellyn and Saille Frumenze were given to Redlynch to allow a more even game. The exchange held back the scoring rate with only 1 more goal from Daniel Olivera with a full time result being 12-0. The team showed great sportsmanship throughout the weekend and the Gove Junior football Club would like to thank RioTinto for there assistance, Qantas Antonio Morais ,Camilla  and Ian Jovicic.
