Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is Football played?
Football (aka 'soccer') is played during the winter months (also known as the dry season here in Darwin) from mid April to late September.
If you are in the Darwin area you are playing in the Northern Zone competition.  If you are in the Alice Springs area you will play in the Southern Zone competition.
Football is also played in Katherine, Gove and Borroloola.

Is there a minimum age for players?
Yes.  Players must turn five (5) years of age - or older - by the end of the season for which they are registering to play.

How do I find a club?
Information regarding Clubs in your area can be found under the Club information link on the left-hand side.

How do I register to play?
Step 1 - Find a Club you want to play for (see above to find a Club in your area).
Step 2 - Complete the FFA registration paperwork and pay your registration fees.  Forms are available from all Clubs.
Step 3 - All players who are registering for the first time will need to show proof of their date of birth.  This can be either a birth certificate, passport or immigration documentation.

Where do I find copies of policies, competition rules and forms?
All our documentation including constitution, by-laws, competition regulations, guides to completing team sheets, insurance information, etc can be found by going to the library page.  The link is near the top of this page.

What about insurance?
All fully registered players (i.e. those whose FFA registration forms and full payment of all fees have been forwarded to the FFNT) are covered by an insurance policy for injuries that may occur during official training sessions or sanctioned matches.
The insurance is not a 'gap' insurance and you must first claim through Medicare and any private insurance you have.
Clubs have copies of the insurance and claim forms can be downloaded by clicking the the hotlink on the main page of this website.
All insurance claims must be signed by your Club before being lodged with the FFNT within 28 days of the injury occurring.
