Bill Kontandas CEO Football NT

Even though the year is coming to a close there is still plenty happening on the football front. The Over 35’s competition has kicked off in Darwin and has been well received. While there is a lack of pace there’s certainly not a lack in skill and enthusiasm and what pleases me the most is the enjoyment people are getting out of the competition. Tanya ter Bogt has done a terrific job with getting the competition up and running.

The Bagot Oval major resurfacing project has been progressing extremely well under the project management of DCC’s Dave Cash. It will definitely be ready for the start of the 2010 season. The Nakara Oval floodlight project has been given the green light by DCC. Former Board member Terry Dent has done an enormous amount of work on both of these projects. Also thanks to the Northern Territory Government and Darwin City Council for their coninued support.

The 2009 FFNT Annual General Meeting was held on November 28.I would like to thank everyone who attended and participated, and to also welcome new Board member George Kamitsis.

I would like to offer my congratulations to Gove Junior Football Club on the opening of their new state of the art club house at Hindle Oval. Alan Fullard and his committee have done a tremendous job.  We won’t talk about Everton will we Alan!

Katherine Football Club is also progressing well and player numbers grew significantly this year. Lisa Dawes and her committee’s hard work and enthusiasm in providing football for the kids in Katherine is much appreciated by all.

FICA’s seven-a-side comp is going well and they have also been handed the keys to their new club house. The facilities at Ross Park provide Alice Springs with a true Home for Football. Well done to all at FICA.

FFA’s facilities audit has been progressing well.  This important study will provide information for us that will enable us to grow our sport and to assist us with putting forward facility proposals and improvements.

Finally I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you all in 2010.

Enjoy your football.
