Northern Territory defeat Timor Leste with double-figures in the Timor Sea Cup



The NT made a confident start to the Timor Sea Cup tournament at the Darwin Football Stadium, defeating Dili Benfica from Timor Leste 10-0.

A hat-trick to Tyrone Soares das Neves and braces to Corey Davis, substitute Dylan Newall and Frank Kabalu were features of the NT under-17s dominant performance.

Davis made the most of his second attempt on goal in the 15th minute calmly placing his shot wide of Dili keeper Simaun.

Soares das Neves increase the Territory lead after half an hour when his free kick went unchallenged into net, with the Dili defence stretched.

Dili striker Bonaventura produced a fine save from NT keeper Albert Boeck five minutes before half-time.

A dazzling run from Dii midfielder Jefry went unrewarded as he fired straight at Boeck.

Davis scored his second and the NT's third goal in the 52nd minute with a thundering 30-metre volley.

A furtherĀ  seven goals in 40 minutes completed the scoring.

The NT's fourth goal came in the 64th minute when Frank Kabalu ran out to a through pass and eluded the advancing Simaun.

Goals to Tyrone das Neves, completing his hat-trick, two for substitute Dylan Newall within 10 minutes of taking field and one for Jackson Dempster completed the scoring.
