Our Board - Fred Marrone
Fred arrived in Darwin in 1971, and has become a very proud and with strong commitment to Darwin and the NT. He retired as the Managing Valuer/Deputy Valuer General of the Australian Valuation Office in 2005.
He was appointed to the FFNT in 2004 and brought his knowledge clubs/public/ community skills and governance to the board. Since 1976 to date Fred has been involved in some 26 associations in clubs, community boards, NT Government and Darwin City Council Committees. When his son Dean, was involved in soccer in the 1980’s Fred was involved and also served as President of the Casuarina Junior Soccer Club;
Fred is currently hold a board/committee membership with: Community Benefit Fund, President of Gymnastics NT, Charles Darwin University Human Research Ethics, a Justice of the Peace and in 2008 he was duly elected member to the Darwin City Council for Waters Ward. Presently Fred is a self employed Valuer.

Business Background
Since the early 1990’s Fred has been the Department South East Asian Liaison Officer and the countries he has been involved with are Indonesia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. Since 1992 he was part of the executive management team of the office which has involved in Business and Operational for the NT Region, as well as the strategic planning and budgeting for the NT. From 1978 to 1987 the family owned two restaurants and a Hair dressing businesses.
From 1990 to 1994 he was the lecturer in Valuation for the Certificate of Real Estate at both then the Northern Territory University and the Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory. From 1992 to 1993 and in 1997 Fred was responsible for arranging work experience for both Thai and Indonesian students under an AusAID project for “hands on experience”.
From 1995 to 1999 Fred the lectured in Valuation to the Local Government Councillor in an International short course program in Management, Leadership and Computer System for South East Asian local government Officers held at the Northern Territory University under an AusAID project. The Local Government Officers came from Indonesia, Philippines, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. At the request of the Government Pricing Committee of Vietnam in May 1999, Fred was invited to present a paper at a Government Pricing Committee Valuation Workshop in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In 2000 and 2001 Fred became the Project Manager for the valuation training courses held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for the Government Pricing Committee officials for the APEC Support Program funded under an AusAID Project. In 2000 Fred also at the requested of NT Department of Asian Relation and Trade presented a paper Nha Trang in the Khanh Hoa Province in Vietnam.
Fred lived and lectured in Meizhou China for three months in 2006 and with the assistance of the Jape family was responsible in getting the mainland China team to the Arafura Games in 2007 and Fred today continues to promote football through his involvement in the Darwin Council Sister Cities program.
Future Goals
Fred’s future goals are to be part of a team in upgrading the professionalism of the sport in the NT, the Management of the Board, the Zones and in particular to promote football throughout the Northern Territory’s cities, towns , and remote communities. For years Darwin has and will continue to promote itself as the gate way to Australia and hence the importance of co- promoting the world game with our northern South East Asian countries.
The world game is a fantastic vehicle to continues to enhance the good relations that the Northern Territory has with our northern neighbours.
