Round 1 - Port Darwin's gutsy defence holds Hellenic to a scoreless draw

Reigning premieres Hellenic and Port Darwin played out a 0-0 draw in the opening match of the 2016 NorZone Men's Premiere League season.

Trevor Howley went close to opening his account for Port but his shot in the fourth minute crashed into the side netting.

At the other end, Pedro Stefanidakis only had Port keeper Joe Harrison to beat in the 25th minute but his shot from the edge of the penalty area went straight into the keeper's hands.

Sulav Maskey brough the best out of Harrison seven minutes before half-time when he pushed the midfielder's strike onto the crossbar and away for a corner.  Hellenic's Jesse Pinto fired just wide of the near post as both teams looked to break the deadlock early in the second half.

Hellenic substitute Benjamin Bafwe almost made an instant impression when he came on for Paddy McGuire but his short went across the face of the goal.

Fotis Hatzivalsamis had the ball in the net for Hellenic with 11 minutes left but he was ruled offside.
