Round 10 Darwin Olympic v Hellenic Athletic Mens

Round 10 Darwin Olympic v Hellenic Athletic Mens

A 10 minute period midway through the second half saved Hellenic from their first defeat of the season against Olympic in Round 10 of the men’s premier league.
At 2-0 down in match which celebrated Olympic’s 50th birthday, the Blues scored three goals back-to-back-to-back to snatch the game away from their Greek rivals.
Hellenic halved the deficit when Helio Carvalho pounced on a loose ball in the middle of a number of bodies to beat Olympic ‘keeper Dylan Newell at the hour mark.
Three minutes later, Hellenic were rewarded a penalty after Geoffry Lino went down in the box because of an Alexander Turner challenge.
Sulav Maskey hammered the penalty right down the middle and four minutes later, he had scored another.
Again, he was cool and calm under pressure from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way as he punished the ball into the top right corner. Again it was Lino who was fouled in the box.
Earlier, Olympic scored first after hitting Hellenic on the break. Kobi Jennings raced away downfield and played a beautiful ball in behind to Michael Tsounias who finished with precision.
Olympic had gained confidence from their first goal and so had Tsounias. He doubled Olympic’s advantage after 25 minutes.
Cutting infield, past two Hellenic defenders, he created space and struck the ball ever so sweetly with his right foot.
It absolutely flew into the back of the net from 30 yards, giving Hellenic keeper Nelson Nheu no chance.
Newell had been outstanding in goals all night and thwarted another sharp chance from a Paddy McGuire header five minutes into the second half.
He was again up to the task eight minutes later when a fierce McGuire strike into the bottom left corner was saved a brilliant outstretched hand.
