Both team's gave the contest every ounce of energy and eventually it would be a neat piece of work in injury time from Dane Turner which snatched a point for Olympic.
It was the red and white's who started the better of the two teams, but it would be Mindil who would take the advantage into halftime.
Olympic struck first in the 13th minute after dominating the early possession. A corner was whipped in from the right hand side and it was placed perfectly in the box. It found the head of captain Billy Kathopoulis who rose above the pack to header the ball perfectly, past the outstretched arm of Mindil 'keeper George Boeck into the top left corner.
Mindil went close to returning serve only minutes later, but Olympic 'keeper Panayiotus Georgiou came to the rescue, three times in the space of a minute. Firstly, from a curling Byomy Anei shot, then from the corresponding corner, Gerorgiou made a double save. Immediately, from a header from Augustino Amon, then a follow up shot from the same man.
On 22 minutes, Gerorgiou couldn’t deny Anei a second time. After great lead up work from Cayne McDowell, the striker strode towards goal and from the right side finished neatly with a chip shot over the 'keepers head.
Olympic then lapsed at the back and Mindil took advantage to hit the lead on 33 minutes. Olympic couldn’t clear the ball from their own penalty area and Oleg Mocohkovetsky quickly latched onto it to fire it past Georgiou.
Last year's grand finalists locked it up 10 minutes after the teams returned from half time. On the break, Michael Tsounias was able to stride away. He shot early and hard at Boeck's near post and the keeper was unable to stop it in time, and it fizzed into the back of the net.
Tsounias went close to his second in the 7st minute. His right foot strike form 20 yards fired towards goal but it cannoned into the left post.
With 10 minutes remaining, Mindil thought they had snatched the match when Fabien Fontaine was released and busted through down field. He played through a clever ball to Priit Proos, which gave the substitute enough room to fire the ball with his right foot into the back of net.
However, there would be late drama. Turner was found running a bustling angle through the centre of the park. He drew the keeper in before chipping over his head to claim his side a point.
On Tuesday, Hellenic face Darwin Rovers in the FFA Cup from the Football Stadium at 7pm.
